IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Introduce yourself and present the course syllabus.
- Familiarize your students briefly with the VISTAS textbook, video program, icons, recursos boxes, and student ancillaries by referring them to pp. xiv-xxix. Let students know that you expect them to complete the activities in the ancillaries on their own, as they are referenced in the recursos boxes throughout the lessons. For more information, see Orienting Students to the Student Textbook in your Instructor’s Annotated Edition (IAE) on p. IAE-8.
- Present the Lección 1 Communicative Goals. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to the topic of basic greetings, using the A primera vista annotation in the IAE as a guide.
- Preview the Contextos section by explaining and modeling some basic greetings. Use Transparencies #9 and #10 for visual support.
ASSIGNMENT
- Have students familiarize themselves with the vocabulary in the Contextos section.
- Have students prepare Práctica Activities 4 and 5 to go over orally during the next class.
